July 29, 2008 - Langara College Board Chair announces new President
David Chiang, Chair of the Langara College Board of Governors, announced the appointment of Dr. David Ross as the College's incoming President effective November 1, 2008 for a 5 year term.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Dr. David Ross as Langara College's incoming President," says Chiang. “An accomplished academic and administrative leader, his breadth of experience spans 19 years of academic, corporate, and administrative successes, with marked strengths in strategic planning, financial management, facility development, enrolment management, student-centred learning, community partnership development, marketing and fundraising."
Most recently Vice President Administration and Student Services at Kwantlen Polytechnic University - a position held for the past seven years - Dr. Ross joined Kwantlen's Marketing Faculty in 1994; became Department Chair in 1996; Undergraduate Business Chair in 1997; and the Associate Vice-President Advancement and External Relations in 1999.
Dr. Ross has also held faculty positions in Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Langara College, the University of New Brunswick, and the Shad Valley Program based in Waterloo, Ontario where he worked with gifted and high potential Canadian high school students.

Toope is a former dean of the faculty of Law at McGill, and is UBC's 12th president since 1913, when Frank Wesbrook first held the chief executive officer position in an institution that has since grown to more than 35,000 students, 10,000 faculty and staff, and annual expenditures approaching $1 billion. Jerome Ryckborst is a usability and user-experience practitioner with a decade of high-tech and software experience and instructs user-interface design at Simon Fraser University, teaching 'Applied User Interface Design: An Introduction.'
Jerome Ryckborst has a science degree from the University of Alberta and a business degree from Webster University. He is a member of Usability Professionals Association, and a past president and senior member of the Society for Technical Communication.
He has extensive experience in the software development process, including application analysis and interaction design for graphical user interfaces (GUI). He also has extensive experience developing large, award-winning user-support systems.
At Gemcom Software International, Jerome's last employer, he helped to lead improving the usability of large, legacy applications one step at a time by training its developers. To do this, he started educating them about usability theory and techniques, and how to apply those techniques to their projects. The result? Gemcom Software started to change its corporate culture to embrace usability.

March 15, 2010 - Vancouver Community College's new president, Kathy Kinloch, joins VCC today, and brings her collaborative approach to building stronger relationships between the college and its communities.
Kathy Kinloch is repositioning Vancouver Community College to fulfill its true potential within the array of BC post secondary institutions. Under Kathy's leadership as President, strategies are underway to ensure VCC responds effectively to employer and community needs in the Metro Vancouver area by delivering effective and relevant education and training.
Prior to joining VCC, Kathy served as Dean, BCIT School of Health Sciences, where during her tenure Kathy led a 'turn-around' to re-engage and increase the effectiveness of BCIT's collaboration by addressing health industry needs.
Kathy's senior health leadership roles include serving as a Senior Advisor, British Columbia Ministry of Health Services where she was an integral leader in the development of a provincial 'wait times' strategy, and as Chief Operating Officer, Fraser Health where she led a wide array of health system changes.
Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) from University of Alberta, a Masters degree in Leadership and a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching both from Royal Roads University, and was a 2010 Vancouver YWCA nominee in Public Sector leadership.
She is a frequent speaker and her current community involvement includes serving on the Coast Mental Health Board, Chair Academy Presidents International Advisory Board, as Associate Faculty Royal Roads University and Co-Chair of the BC Academic Health Council. Kathy is pleased to be a member of the International Women's Forum, a body that advances women's leadership across careers, cultures, and continents.

Ian Scott is a graduate of the Richard Ivey School of Business Executive MBA program at the University of Western Ontario. Prior to joining CLBC in 2006, Ian was employed by the TELUS Corporation most recently in a variety of Sales and Client management roles.
Ian is a past Vice-President of the Leadership and Management Development Council of BC, past Board member of Leadership Victoria and has been involved in fund-raising for Multiple Sclerosis, United Way and the Mothers March of Dimes. Ian has spent his entire career in Information Technology and Communications Infrastructure roles ranging from engineering, training, project management and sales.

Originally from Ontario, Paula came to BC to do her masters degree in social work. After graduating, she moved to Lillooet where she was a frontline worker with a generalized caseload that included income assistance, child protection and services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Paula managed a range of programs over the years at MCFD headquarters including childcare, service to seniors, community grants and services to children with special needs.
She has worked as a director of community living programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities for over 20 years and has played a primary role in moving services from institutions to community based support.

Marsha Goldford, M.P.A., is a certified human resources professional, formerly employed with BCBC as a senior HR advisor.
Marsha spent her early career in local government finance and intergovernmental policy development, later moving into management positions in social housing and residential tenancy programs.
Until her recent move to Vancouver, Marsha was an active member of the Victoria Senior Citizens Housing Society Board and chair of Capital Mental Health Association's personnel committee. She now sits on the Red Door Housing Society board in Vancouver and continues to serve as a volunteer resource to member societies on matters related to human resources management.
Marsha has a masters degree in public administration from Queen's University, a B.A. in political science and French from University of Western Ontario, and a graduate certificate in human resource management from Royal Roads University.

David MacPherson has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Victoria and a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia. He has worked for most of his professional career in the community living field, including positions as Director, Special Needs Policy and Director, Adult Services for the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
David retired in 2003 and established a consulting business, working with various government ministries and agencies. While consulting, he served on the board of Community Living Victoria. David joined CLBC as a Quality Service Manager in 2007, and was appointed Director of Regional Operations for Vancouver Island in 2009.

Sharon has been committed to supporting individuals and families in community living for over 25 years. Originally from Ontario, Sharon worked with children and youth with special needs both in child protection and the school system. She worked for the Burlington Association for Community Living supporting adults with developmental disabilities for 5 years prior to moving to British Columbia in 1989.
Sharon worked for the Delta Community Living Society for over 16 years managing a number of program areas and served as the Executive Director prior to joining CLBC in 2005 as a Community Planning and Development Manager. She was appointed Director of Regional Operations for the Vancouver Coastal Region in 2011.

Prior to beginning his work at CLBC in 2005 as the Director of Strategic Planning, Brian was a part-time faculty member from 1992 - 2001 in the Community Support Worker Program at Kwantlen University College.
From 2001 - 2005, Brian worked as a contractor with the Interim Authority for CLBC and the Ministry of Children and Family Development in a variety of roles in support of BC's move to a community governance model in community living.
From 1993 - 2005, Brian also travelled extensively in Canada, the USA, Australia and the United Kingdom where he worked as a part time consultant on various disability policy issues, including the implementation of individualized funding and independent planning support.

Doug has been involved in community living for 25 years as a volunteer, as a paid staff person with the Interim Authority for Community Living, and with the Ministry of Social Services as a regional director. Doug also served as the executive director of Delta Community Living Society from 2000 to 2005.
Doug also served as a member of the Community Living Transition Steering Committee. He is committed to ensuring adults with intellectual disabilities, their families, and families with children with disabilities have the power to make the decisions, through informed choice, that affect their lives.
Prior to joining Delta Community Living Society, Doug was a regional manager for Interlock Employee and Family Assistance Corporation. He also chaired the Multi-Lateral Task Force on training, career-pathing and labour mobility in the community social services sector.

Jonathan Rouse is Dean for the School of Hospitality at Vancouver Community College, responsible for providing leadership in the administration and delivery of programs from certificate level to the Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree.
Jonathan is also responsible for the development and management of LINK BC, a new body designed to enhance and build tourism/hospitality education within the province. LINK BC supports the growth and development of a strong workforce, further establishing a competitive edge for BC's tourism industry, helping to meet the provincial goal of doubling tourism revenues by 2015.
Jonathan has 15 years experience working with government, industry and the education community in developing human resource capacity throughout Canada and internationally.
Jonathan is currently working on a number of foreign credential recognition projects with the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council, to further sustain educations role to attract and build professional talent for the tourism industry.
Jonathan sits on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council and a Go2 Board sub committee for Propel, and holds a Master Degree in Tourism Education from the University of Surrey in England.
