August 31, 2010 - Industry association LifeSciences British Columbia is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Don Enns as the new President of the organization effective September 7, 2010.
Don Enns has been a leader in British Columbia's life sciences industry for over 25 years, most recently as President and CEO of CANTEST Ltd., a BC-headquartered global organization providing professional analytical and clinical services in support of environmental quality, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food safety industries as well as related projects for business and government.
Through inspired leadership, impressive growth and industry-leading business practices, Mr. Enns helped the organization earn a spot amongst the 50 Best Managed Companies in Canada and to be recognized as one of BC's 25 Best Companies to work for.
Don is a director of numerous local for-profit companies as well as several non-profit organizations involved with national standardization, trade, education, community affairs, and public health.
He has overseen expansion into the European and Southeast Asian markets; been responsible for merger & acquisition activity; and consulted for international agencies such as the UN Development Programme. He currently serves as a Director or Committee Advisor to Genome British Columbia, the World Wildlife Fund and two UBC faculties amongst other organizations.
Mr. Enns received his MBA from UBC in 1987 and his Bachelor of Science Chemistry from TWU in 1982.

Helmut is editor of the Economic Analysis of B.C. newsletter, a highly regarded and internationally circulated publication of the credit union system in B.C. and provides economic forecasts and services to the system.
Prior to joining Credit Union Central of B.C. in 1997, Helmut spent 20 years with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in B.C., and was responsible for analyzing and forecasting the provincial housing market and economy.
He is past President of the Association of Professional Economists of B.C., a member of the Canadian Association for Business Economics, and of the Real Estate Institute of B.C.
Helmut achieved an honours B.A. degree with a first class standing in Economics from Simon Fraser University and he attended the economics graduate school at the University of British Columbia.

Werner Harmse has performed many IT roles for some 26 years. He has focused on the implementation of enterprise intranets and the integration of line of business applications through intranet technology since 1997. Having seen intranet technology evolve from hand coded HTML and Javascript to classic ASP to .NET and early CMS systems, he now uses Sharepoint to unlock business value for customers.
Werner's latest project has been leading the Intranet Integration for Central 1 Credit Union's BC and Ontario regions. He is currently involved in the expansion of their intranet's collaboration capabilities as well as a new extranet project aiming to serve Central 1's external business partners.

With over 27 years of experience within the hospitality industry, Mr. Pullan brings a wealth of knowledge and new perspective to The Fairmont Waterfront. His past senior operations positions with several global brand hotel groups will serve him well as he takes the team at The Fairmont Waterfront forward with a commitment to the outstanding guest services that have become a cornerstone of this property.

A graduate from Galway Hotel Management School, with a Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management, Ian Pullan joined the Hotel Conrad Dublin as Assistant Front of the House Manager in 1990. In 1992, he transferred to St. Martin in the French West Indies as Front Office Manager with La Belle Creole (a Conrad Hotel).
Ian joined the Los Angeles Hilton & Towers as Director of Front Office Operations in 1994 and was appointed Director of Front Office Operations with Omni Los Angeles Hotel & Center (formerly Los Angeles Hilton) in 1995. A year later, Ian was promoted to Director of Rooms at the property and returned to Dublin in 1998 as Deputy General Manager (Operations) with Jurys Hotel & Towers.
In 1999, Ian relocated to the sunny climes of Bermuda as Director of Operations at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, where he held that position until 2002 when he was appointed to Hotel Manager for The Fairmont Royal York. In 2003, Ian was promoted to General Manager, The Fairmont Kansas City at the Plaza and in 2005, he was appointed as the General Manager, The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii.

Having held her Certified General Accountant designation for 10 years, Karen brings extensive experience in financial accounting, analysis, tax, and supervisory experience.
Karen is yet another native of the Lower Mainland. She is a fan of auto racing, a BMW enthusiast, and an avid gardener.
