Previously Vice Principal and Director of Employment Services at S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Ronald Ma has extensive successful experience in social and economic research, training, social program development and administration. His current interests are integration of practice and theory in career development and to develop an effective multicultural employment services model.

Ronald Ma has a bachelor's degree in economics and Japanese studies, and a master's degree in social work. He is a registered social worker (RSW) and is also a member of the National Career Development Association (NCDA).

Ronald has over 30 years experience in human services including 17 years in employment services. He worked with the Economic Research Center (ERC) of Chinese University of Hong Kong and later joined the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association (BGCA) of Hong Kong. In 1984, he obtained a master of social work degree.

Before he immigrated to Canada, Ronald was the executive secretary of BGCA, managed a child counseling centre and seven youth centers. He was also a part time lecturer at Vocational Training Council and City Polytechnic in Hong Kong.

He has extensive experience in administration, strategic planning, training, and career management with immigrants. He was involved in federal and provincial funded programs such as Job Development Project (JDP), Work Orientation Workshops (WOW), SED (Severely Employment Disadvantaged) program, Job Finding Clubs (JFCs), Project Based Training (PBT), Employment Assistance Services (EAS), Job Readiness (JR) programs, Independent Job Search (IJS) programs, Training Works (WBT), and clients of Workers Compensation Board (WCB).

Economist-Social Worker
Over 30 years not-for-profit organization management experience. As the Director of Employment Services with S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Ronald is responsible for the planning and implementation of federal and provincial funded programs for job seekers from different ethnic background and with different employment needs.
Leading a group of about 50 career development practitioners, Ronald's current focus is on helping immigrants, foreign trained professionals, abused women, the Aboriginals, at risk youth, Income Assistance recipients (especially those at Downtown eastside) to enter the Canadian labor market.

Before immigrated to Canada, Ronald was the Executive Secretary of the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, where he established and supervised Hong Kong's first Child Counseling Centre and was responsible for conducting research projects on youth culture and value system. He was also a part time Lecturer at the City University in Hong Kong and Hong Kong Vocational council.

Ronald writes regularly for newspapers on labor, employment, career development and culture issues. He is the author of “Career Success in Canada" .

Prior to November 1, 2006, Tung Chan was district vice-president of 17 TD Canada Trust branches. He first joined TD Bank Financial Group in 1978, and also served as a Vancouver councillor for one term, from 1990 to 1993.

Mr. Chan has served on the boards of numerous community organizations. Among others, he has served in the leadership of The Boys' and Girls' Club of Vancouver (Director); International Financial Center Society of Vancouver (Vice Chair); Richmond Public Library (Chair) and E-Comm Emergency Communications For Southwest BC Inc. (Chair).

He also helped found the Richmond Bogside Boy Scout Group (Advisor); The Kelowna Chinese Cultural Association (Treasurer); The Pender Guy Radio Program (Producer); and The Centennial Toastmaster Club (Mentor).

Among other community involvements, Mr. Chan is a member of the BC Premier's Chinese Community Advisory Committee, Chair of the Advisory Committee of Fairchild Television, a member of the Board of Governors of Kwantlen University College, and a Board Advisor of the Vancouver Summer Festival Society.

Tung Chan, a native of Hong Kong, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of British Columbia.

Kelly Pollack is the Executive Director of the Immigrant Employment Council of BC. Kelly brings more than 20 years of experience in diverse multicultural settings, developing and managing programs and services for immigrants.

Some of Kelly's key accomplishments include executive committee member of the Employment Access for Skilled Immigrants Initiative, the inception and development of the BC Internationally Trained Professional Network, and Solutions for Access, a project in partnership with BC regulatory bodies.

Previous to the Immigrant Employment Council Kelly was the Director of Employment and Language Programs at MOSAIC. Kelly brings both passion and a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities for addressing the labour market barriers faced by immigrants.

Job Finding Club (JFC): A full-time, no-cost program that takes place during the first two weeks of every month (Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm). Participating in the JFC will assist you in your job search process and provides the necessary tools and techniques needed to secure employment.

Held within a diverse, friendly and supportive multicultural setting, this program focuses on employment opportunities, market trends and demands.

You will receive the added benefit of learning about resumes and cover letters, references, goal setting, networking, employment standards, interviews, application forms, career assessment, labour market information and Internet job search.
