Tim Stevenson was elected to Vancouver City Council in 2002, and was re-elected in 2005 and 2008.
Tim holds bachelor of arts (University of British Columbia), master of arts (Holy Names College, California) and masters of divinity (Vancouver School of Theology) degrees. He was first elected to the British Columbia Provincial Parliament in 1996 and was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health. Subsequently, he became Deputy Speaker of the House and then was appointed Cabinet Minister, holding the portfolio of Employment and Investment. He became the first openly gay Cabinet Minister in Canada in 2000.
Prior to being elected to office, he was the minister at St. Paul's United Church. Currently, he also teaches Comparative Religions (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism) in the Religious Studies Department at Langara College in Vancouver. Tim was the first openly gay person ordained in a mainstream Christian denomination in Canada.
Tim spent 10 years in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside working with the inner city poor while sitting on the Board of the First United Church. Tim has also worked in the Philippines and South Africa where he was one of the Canadian representatives at the African National Congress Conference in Durban in 1991 where Nelson Mandela was elected as the ANC's party President. He was also one of the International Observers in the South African elections in 1994.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Tim now lives in the West End of Vancouver with Gary Paterson, his partner of 25 years, who is also a United Church minister. Together, they have raised three daughters, all now in their 20s.

Originally from Ontario, Paula came to BC to do her masters degree in Social Work and never left. After graduating, she moved to Lillooet where she was a frontline worker with a generalized caseload that included income assistance, child protection and services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Paula managed a range of programs over the years at MCFD headquarters including childcare, service to seniors, community grants and services to children with special needs.
She has worked as a director of community living programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities for over 20 years and has played a primary role in moving services from institutions to community based support.
She has worked with diverse groups within community and is thrilled to be part of the next "wave" and new vision in community living. Paula is married with one daughter and likes reading, kayaking, hiking and travel.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), is pleased to announce that Dr. Suzanne Fortier has today officially taken up her position as the fifth President of the Council. Her appointment was announced November 23, 2005.
Before becoming President of NSERC, Dr. Fortier was Vice-Principal (Academic) at Queen's University. She was also a full professor in both the departments of Chemistry and Computing and Information Science, and had joined Queen's University in 1982 after holding research positions at the Medical Foundation of Buffalo and the National Research Council of Canada.
Dr. Fortier is a crystallographer by training. Her research was concerned with the development of mathematical and artificial intelligence methodologies for protein structure determination and crystallographic data mining.

Tim Jervis leads a staff group that provides engineering design, technical support and construction services for large-scale capital projects throughout the region.
These infrastructure projects, which include water supply and sewer collection pipes, drinking water treatment facilities, water storage dams, sewage treatment plants and a wide assortment of related equipment and facilities, are designed and built by a combination of staff and consulting/contracted professionals and firms.
Tim is also responsible for providing contract management services for solid waste collection, transportation and disposal facilities serving Metro Vancouver member municipalities.
