Mississauga ON-based Thomas Franz has 12 years of experience in the evaluation of contaminated sites and the prediction of fate and transport of contaminants in soils and groundwater. He has conducted over two hundred major environmental site assessments, including risk assessments and remedial plan development for sites contaminated with hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents and heavy metals.
His major clients are private industry, various departments of the federal government, including the Department of National Defence (DND), Public Works and Government Services Canada and Transport Canada.
He is a known expert in the field of groundwater modelling. He has conducted several 3-D groundwater flow and contaminant transport modelling studies of complex hydrogeological settings, including fractured rock, for the decommissioning of mines and the remediation of chlorinated and non-chlorinated organics in Canada, the United States and Germany.
As a founding partner of Waterloo Hydrogeologic Inc., Mr. Franz has developed several computer models, including VISUAL MODFLOW, FLOWPATH, and AIRFLOW, that have become standards in the groundwater industry. He has also lectured on groundwater modelling for the National Ground Water Association in Canada.

Fairbank is a geological engineer and Canada's foremost geothermal expert, with 30 years of geothermal engineering, exploration and resource assessment, business management and project finance experience. He founded Fairbank Engineering Ltd. in 1986, specializing in international project development. He was project manager through the discovery of Canada's Meager Creek Geothermal Area (1978-1982), then operated by BC Hydro and Power Authority.
He assisted in the development of a National Power Plan for Kenya, East Africa and subsequently consulted on a production drilling program which developed 60MW of steam reserves to augment 45 MW of existing generating capacity at the Olkaria Power Station, Kenya. Mr. Fairbank is a long- standing member of the Geothermal Resource association and a Past President of the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association.

He subsequently joined a prominent design/build company where he developed an acknowledged expertise in the design of tilt-up construction. In addition he was responsible at a senior level for the design of institutional and industrial structures as well as seismic assessment and upgrading.
The close association with construction has ensured that his designs are both constructible and economic. Walter is registered as a Certified Professional in BC, thereby being conversant with code matters relating to fire requirements, occupancies and accessibility issues.
