Bob Korzeniowski, Associate Director of Marketing and Recruitment, is responsible for overseeing marketing and student recruitment for the Vancouver campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Born in Canada, he has travelled in over 30 countries, including Taiwan, where he learned to speak Mandarin. After living and working for several years in Europe, Africa and Asia, Bob now calls Vancouver home.
Bob has been working in the education industry for over 20 years, as both an instructor and marketing manager. He taught in high schools and colleges in Canada and abroad before founding a college in Vancouver in 1996, which he managed and grew to three campuses across Canada and Europe, which are still operating.
His Bachelor of Science degree was a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics with a minor in Physics and his Executive MBA is from Simon Fraser University. Bob speaks Mandarin and English.

Janet Snell is a Registered Architect with over twenty years of experience in the design and construction of both residential and commercial applications. She is currently affiliated with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and the British Columbia Building Envelope Council.
Janet is an instructor in Building Science and Materials courses within the Architectural and Building Engineering Technology Diploma and the Architecture Science Degree programs at BCIT.

Dr. Ian Haslam leads the FDU-Vancouver team, making available to students starting as early as June of 2007 the resources of a growing Vancouver-based faculty and staff and of the U.S. and British campuses of the University.
Is the Campus Provost of Fairleigh Dickinson University-Vancouver. He holds a doctorate in Teaching and Learning from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an MBA from the University of Birmingham, UK and an MA from the University of Alberta. His undergraduate education was at the Institute of Education at Keele University in the UK.
Haslam has taught at all levels of education and on three different continents. He was granted three contract renewals at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and was awarded academic tenure at Brock University and the University of Western Ontario in Canada and at Eastern Michigan University in the USA.
His research interest is in the field of curriculum and instruction in sport and exercise settings. Of late he has been looking at technology enhanced physical activity curriculum in schools and its impact on teachers and coaches.
Dr Haslam has published extensively in a variety of professional and academic outlets and made numerous presentations at conferences around the world. His administrative experiences include state and federal policy committees in the field of health, education and sport and physical education especially in Canada and Singapore.
He has worked as a teacher, a coach, a department head, a Director of a School, a Vice Dean and a Dean in culturally rich settings all over the world. Haslam's views on world citizenship through global education involve more than simply living and studying in a different country but an integrated living and learning experience involving student learning outcomes, faculty, staff and curriculum.

Pitman B. Potter is Director of the Institute of Asian Research at the University of British Columbia. He is also Professor of Law and Director of Chinese Legal Studies at UBC's Faculty of Law.
Professor Potter received his BA in Chinese Studies (History) from George Washington University in 1978. He received his MA (1980) and Ph.D. (with distinction, 1986) in Political Science, as well as his law degree (JD, 1985) from the University of Washington.

Areas of Interest
My major areas of research are information retrieval (IR) and digital libraries. I have done research and supervised doctoral dissertations in IR in text, multimedia, and the Web environments. My teaching areas reflect my research interests; I have taught courses on digital libraries, digital image collections, information retrieval (both theory and practice), indexing and abstracting, and electronic information systems
Biographical Sketch
I joined SLAIS in July, 2003 as Professor and Director of the School after an academic and professional career in Canada, the US, England and New Zealand, which began with an undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia, thus bringing me full circle.
I received a B.Sc. from UBC and an M.Sc. from McMaster University, both in Chemistry, an M.L.S. from the University of Western Ontario, and a Ph.D. in Information Studies from the University of Sheffield, England. I held professional positions with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited in Ontario as a Technical Information Officer, and with Agriculture Canada as Librarian at the Kentville, Nova Scotia, Research Station.
Before joining SLAIS I served on the faculty of the School of Information Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, USA for 15 years, most recently as Professor. While there I chaired the Doctoral Studies committee, and served as Department Chair for three years.
I have also held appointments at the School of Library and Information Studies at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada, the School of Library Science at the Institiut Teknoloji MARA, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
I have been active in the Information Retrieval and Digital Library research communities, serving as Conference Chair for the ACM International Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval in 1993 and the ACM International Conference on Digital Libraries in 1997, and as Conference Chair for the 2002 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Information Science & Technology.
I am currently on the editorial boards of ACM Transactions on Information Systems, Information Processing & Management, Information Retrieval, and Text Technology.

Jonn Martell, Director of Technical Operations, has 20 years experience in consulting, networking and IT. He managed the deployment and operation of numerous multimillion dollar networking projects including fiber optics, wireless and VOIP services.
Jonn joined the Director's team at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Vancouver Campus to oversee the technological deployment and operations of the new University campus located at the heart of Vancouver, Canada.
Jonn teaches wireless, networking, security and technology courses at the University of British Columbia.
He is a certified wireless network expert (CWNE) and certified instructor (CWNT). He is a Project Management Professional and holds numerous technology certifications from Cisco, Microsoft and CompTIA.
Jonn is a regular speaker at industry and educational conferences and has presented at Interop, Net'99, ResNet, IEEE, UDI, Library Access, Wi-Fi Alliance and VoiceCon. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. He speaks fluent English and French.

Julie has been working in the field of Organization and Staff Development since 1989, and has designed and facilitated strategic planning, team building, process mapping, instructional skills, conflict resolution and role clarification sessions/workshops, for organizations such as B.C. Rehab Paraplegic Society, B.C. Centre for Disease Control Society (Provincial Laboratory), B.C. Women's and Children's Hospitals, University Hospital and Vancouver Hospital. Following several years at York University and subsequently at Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, she has joined UBC as the Director of Human Resources, Organizational Training & Development. Her current work focuses on aspects of Social Architecture such as building learning community networks using the workplace as a learning lab.
She holds a Masters degree in Literature from York University as well as Graduate Certificates in both Creative Leadership and Adult Education. Julie is currently writing her dissertation in completion of her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Simon Fraser University.
