I was born in Sudbury, Ontario, in 1972 and moved to British Columbia in 1987. I have been here ever since, living in Surrey with my wife and three children.
Working in the automotive industry is a family trade. My grandfather and uncle were mechanics for British Petroleum, so you can say things automotive are in my blood. I worked as a mechanic for some time before joining a fast lube chain, where I met George Mate in 1989. At that time his job was pitching plastics recycling, and he wanted where I worked to climb aboard. Sorry to say he did not get the account. But he did get me to join his company, so it all worked out in the end.
At M&R, I started as a plastics recycler and then took a position as a driver position. As M&R expanded, so did my opportunities, and I took on a new role as facility manager. I now see myself as part of a growing company of over 30 employees and eleven trucks that has become a leader in the recycling industry, a change largely driven George's sheer determination to succeed.

My time with M&R began when the doors first opened in 1994 with one truck and a mobile grinder. After several years with the company I ventured back to Ontario and became part of a rapidly growing trucking company as an owner operator. Approximately seven years later, I brought my family back to British Columbia and went right back to work with the M&R family.
When I returned to M&R, I started as one of its used oil tanker truck drivers. With the rapid growth of M&R upon rejoining, I have risen to the position of operations manager where I manage a fleet of eleven trucks and drivers.

I was born and raised in India. Our family then moved to Canada in 1972 to 100 Mile House. After I graduated high school in 100 Mile House, I then went to College in Prince George.
I moved down to the lower mainland in 1987 where I started a job with Master Wash/Vinoco Oil where George Mate was my first boss. Master Wash was a family owned business that was later sold to Laidlaw and then Safety-Kleen.
I can still remember like it was yesterday my interview with George. Back then when he asked me if I knew the ‘main streets' in the Lower mainland. I replied ‘yes!' thinking he was asking about Main Street in Vancouver! Because that's all I knew at the time, this is where the Punjabi shops were on Main Street in Vancouver…I still got the job.
I worked with George/Harold/Joe/Lane back then and we are a team again once more here at M&R. I currently live in Surrey with my wife and 3 children.
I'm thrilled and excited about the opportunity that has been presented to me at M&R Environmental

In 2005 I stepped into my role as a business development manager of M&R Environmental. Before then, I worked at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown as its director of sales. Before then, I had spent six years with Interstate Hotels & Resorts, North America's largest independent hotel management company, where I specialized in government and corporate markets. Born, raised, and educated in Vancouver, I live with my wife, Orlee, and my two daughters, Jacoba and Alexis.
I am honored to work at M&R Environmental, which encourages an entrepreneurial spirit while retaining its core corporate values.

Born and raised in Vancouver, I can tell you that I'm happy to be home again after having spent many years in Calgary and Toronto. While there, I had the good fortune to work in a variety of areas: customer service, office administration, and human resources. Upon returning to Vancouver, I found myself working with George and Dani, my childhood friends--not to mention my husband, Harold!
I am proud of the team here at M&R. We work hard for our customers and our employees.

In 1994 I was home full time with my 4 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, one foreign student, and basement daycare business when my husband, George, came home and told me we were going to take the big leap into a new business! And here I was thinking I already had! Starting and growing M&R has been a rewarding and stimulating experience. It has been both a pleasure and a challenge building a business that meets all of my ethical requirements while at the same time stays viable economically.
I am very proud of what we are today and while I no longer work from home (or have all 4 of my kids there), I enjoy coming into work every day. It is never boring, that I can assure you. Today I manage the administrative part of the company, and if there is anything that I can do for you, our customer, I'd love to hear from you.

I have been around cars for what seems like forever. My parents owned and operated The Minit Man Car Wash on Robson and Hamilton in downtown Vancouver. After graduating from Douglas College, I went into sales with Master Wash Products.
I then landed a great opportunity with Pennzoil Products, where I started in sales and quickly moved into sales management, marketing and branding positions. My work with Pennzoil took me across Canada and the world to places like Calgary, Toronto, and Baden Baden, Germany.
Like many Vancouverites, after being away from home for over a decade, I longed to return. So when NGK Spark Plugs had an opportunity based in Vancouver, I jumped on it.
Upon my return, I renewed many friendships and reconnected with George and Dani. M&R was then growing rapidly, and together we saw a great opportunity. I joined as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in March of 2004 and became a shareholder in January 2006.

I have spent 20 years of my career in the environmental management industry. Before that I spent five years in the academia as a chemist and still teach on a part-time basis at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. My career since then, however, has largely focused on the operational and regulatory issues that impact the hazardous waste management industry.
As a co-owner, my job at M&R Environmental is to look after regulatory compliance as well as the sales and marketing of our industrial fuel products.

In 1993, when George Mate founded M&R Environmental, he set out to define an industry standard for service and technical leadership in the recycling of waste oil and the distribution of environment-friendly substitutes.
This tradition of innovation and environmental consciousness continues in this family-owned and operated business, with M&R expanding its services to include the recovery of oil filters, plastic containers, contaminated fuels, waste solvents and antifreeze, and the sale of coolants, degreasers, descalers, and absorbents.
